Chinese language training courses (MLAC Students Only): 15 hours/week. The Chinese language courses are specifically designed for international students and are divided into three levels, both mandatory and elective Chinese language classes and are taught in small groups, with approximately 15 students per class.

General Visiting Students are required to have already received HSK Level 6 or tested their Chinese proficiency themselves by trying Chinese-taught courses.
Only those students whose results meet the standard are allowed to take Chinese-taught specialty courses, otherwise it is suggested that they study Chinese in the School of Chinese as a Second Language for one or two semesters.

Students must be non-Chinese nationals, including being of Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Macau.
Peking University Student Service and Affairs offer a range of student support including counselling health.
Located directly opposite the southeast gate of Peking University, Peking University offers the Zhongguanyuan Global Village. Buildings 2-6 are designated as international student dorms, offering a variety of room types. Each dorm building includes study rooms, libraries, laundry, gym, and other shared spaces to meet academic needs. The monthly rent is around 3000-4200 Yuan.
Online dorm booking will start in mid-July/mid-January. Please pay close attention to the latest information on the PKU website.
Exchange students are required to purchase the comprehensive Insurance Plan of Foreign Students provided by Ping An insurance on the first day of registration. Students who do not have the required insurance will not be allowed to register.
An estimated cost of living for one year is roughly 50,000 RMB (depending on exchange rate roughly £5000). This includes approximate costs of accommodation, meals and transport.

From the UNESCO sites of the Forbidden City and the Summer Palace, Beijing has a wealth of traditional architecture, as has PKU, renowned for its campus grounds.
