Research interests

  • I am a fluvial geomorphologist, and my research focuses on the way in which mountain landscapes erode, and how river networks transport and eventually deposit sediment downstream in alluvial floodplains.
  • My current research interests include:
  • 1) Processes relating to bedrock river erosion across a range of timescales (e.g., physical/chemical weathering, abrasion and dissolution).
  • 2) Feedbacks between coarse/immobile sediment cover and bedrock erosion.
  • 3) The legacy of past glaciation on modern fluvial systems and landscapes.
  • 4) River channel and network stability and their sensitivity to hydrological extremes.
