When you join us, you’ll discover a huge mix of unique environments - and experiences. From our 17 distinctive Colleges, to the incredible range of additional learning, teaching, and leisure facilities and environments we look after.

Since we first opened our doors, we’ve inherited a rich landscape steeped in history and heritage, and we’ve worked hard to conserve its legacy. Some of our colleges and departments in and around Durham City are housed in listed buildings - including University College which is situated in Durham Castle itself.

As we’ve grown, we’ve also created a number of modern, fully accessible buildings that boast state of the art facilities and world class teaching, learning and research environments.

We also look after Durham’s Botanic Garden, the Museum of Archaeology, and the World Heritage Site Visitor Centre, along with lots of other museums and attractions.
