Your responsibility
If you work with adults ‘at risk’ as part of your role at the University you need to be alert to symptoms of abuse. You should raise any concerns with the Lead Safeguarding Officer (LSO) who will then refer incidents or concerns to the County Durham Safeguarding Adults Inter-agency Partnership (CDSAIP).
As a staff member or student you are also able to make safeguarding referrals directly to the CDSAIP by phoning 03000 267979, but please obtain the permission of the ‘at risk’ adult before doing so, wherever possible. For exceptions to this rule please see the safeguarding adults ‘at risk’ policy. If the adult withholds their permission, for whatever reason, please contact the Lead Safeguarding Officer (LSO).
