Alumnus George Rexstrew stars in new supernatural-comedy Netflix series
‘Dead Boy Detectives’ launched on Thursday 25 April on Netflix with George Rexstrew in a starring role.
George (Modern Languages, University College, 2013-17) made his Netflix debut in his first official TV acting role. He plays co-lead Edwin Paine in the series alongside actor Jayden Revri as Charles Rowland. Labelled as ‘pick of the week’ by national UK newspaper The Guardian, the series has garnered positive reviews highlighting its fun, spooky nature.
Dead Boy Detectives
The Netflix series has its origins in ‘The Sandman’ comic books published by DC Comics. Written by award-winning British author, screenwriter and voice actor Neil Gaiman, the ‘Dead Boy Detectives’ first featured in the comic’s 25th issue (April 1991) and were brought to life by artists Matt Wagner and Malcolm Jones III.
Two central characters, Edwin and Charles, have chosen to remain on Earth rather than enter the afterlife, to help ghosts resolve their mysteries in this 8-part supernatural comedy series.
