Key timings for your Full-time MBA

The Full-time MBA commences on Friday, 25 September 2026.

It is delivered 100% on-site at the Business School. You will attend lectures Monday to Friday from 9am to 1pm and take part in programme-related activities in the afternoon.
There are two weeks allocated to the Welcome & Orientation programme.
- During week one you are introduced to the programme, the wider University, and the MBA team.
- During week two you will do various activities with your cohort and prepare for the formative assignment.

The Durham MBA is delivered by leading academics through a combination of sessions that include lectures, workshops, case studies, and individual and group presentations. Some sessions are given by invited speakers who are experts in their relevant field.

The MBA includes a high percentage of independent study outside of the timetabled contact hours. This planning and preparation will help you contribute to smaller group sessions and gain the most value from the course.

Assessment

Assessment is rigorous and is carried out using a range of tools designed to analyse your knowledge and skills. These include essays, case analyses, examinations, individual and group reports, presentations, portfolios and a business project. Depending on the pathway selected, you will also complete a business plan or produce an analytical project.

What do I need to apply?

Candidates must be able to demonstrate at least three years’ continuous post-graduation work experience, in one or more positions with significant managerial responsibility.
First or Upper Second Class Bachelor's Degree, or international equivalent (applicants who do not meet this requirement will be required to submit a portfolio of evidence demonstrating capability in areas such as management experience, critical thinking skills and communication skills).

As there is a high demand for this programme with a finite number of places available, we operate a staged admissions process with application deadlines throughout the year. Due to the competition for places, we give preference to applicants who exceed our minimum professional experience requirements and/or from high ranking institutions with grades above our minimum entry requirements.

If you apply before the application deadline for a particular stage, as shown below, you will normally receive a response on or before the Decision by date. In some instances, it may be necessary for us to roll your application forward to the next round.

Postgraduate Taught

The Diplomë Universitare alone is not considered to be sufficient preparation for postgraduate study. We require either the Diplomë e Nivelittë Pare (Bachelor (First Level (University) Diploma/Bachelor's degree), the Master Shkencave (Master of Science), or the Kandidat i Shkencave (Candidate of Sciences) with an overall mark of ≥9.0/10.0 from an ASCAL accredited institution.

Postgraduate Research

Candidates require both a Diplomë e Nivelittë Dytë (Second Level (University) Diploma) and a Bachelor's degree from ASCAL accredited institutions. The Bachelor's degree should have an overall mark of ≥9.0/10.0.

Additional course costs

One of the core modules involves an international study visit which will incur additional costs that are not included within your tuition fee. The University will cover return flights from the UK, accommodation (including breakfast), in-country transport and standard travel insurance. You will be expected to cover the cost of your visa (including traveling to the embassay for visa appointments), your meals and refreshments, any personal travel or activites outside of the official itinerary, and any additional travel insurance you require.

There are also additional costs associated with attending compulsory Careers and Professional Development events throughout the course.
