Grey is a relaxed college with a fantastic community. Colleges at Durham are so much more than just a place of residence where you simply live and socialise; they are individual communities that support you in your academic endeavours, whilst also providing opportunities to get involved in a rich variety of of extra-curricular activities in College and the wider University.
At Grey, our students organise sports, societies and social events while our dedicated and professional staff members run enrichment and support, accommodation and catering. At Grey we pride ourselves in the three areas of Creativity, Community and Opportunity.
Creativity: Students make great use of our music practice rooms, and artistic facilities, including a wide array of JCR-owned musical instruments and a Steinway piano. We have a thriving Arts' Committee and Choir. Grey has a tradition of hosting art exhibitions and there is some interesting art displayed around the College including work by Grey Fellow, Thetis Blacker.
Community: Grey is a place where anyone can come and feel part of something. Whatever your interests, you will be a valued member of the College community, supported to be who you are, and supporting those around you in turn. It is our mission to ensure you feel at home here.
Opportunity: Grey has a wide array of opportunities. Whether that be participation in events, sports, societies and the arts through the JCR, personal development and career skills from the College, or the lectures and seminars on topical issues. In addition we support individual students and to are fortunate that our generous alumni funding enables students to benefit from opportunities that might otherwise have been out of reach.
Our focus is on providing these opportunities to all, regardless of wealth, race, age, gender, sexuality, faith or anything else.
