Junior Common Room (JCR)

Our undergraduate Junior Common Room is a self-governing, independent charity, overseen by two Sabbatical Officers: the JCR President and Finance & Commercial Services Officer (FACSO). The room itself is situated beneath the dining hall and is used as a relaxed social space, home to our Toastie Bar, as well as a venue for events. Grey JCR is run by students, for students, and offers a wide range of volunteer positions within its governing body for anyone to apply.

Comprising around 1,100 students, the JCR helps organise induction for new students, runs many sports, societies, and committees, and plans many of the events in College. With over 50 clubs, there is opportunity for anyone to try, no matter what skill level – if something doesn’t already exist, students are also able to create their own! The JCR organises events throughout the year, led by the student Events Committee. They offer many events throughout the year such as the Winter Ball, President’s Guest Night, Charity Fashion Show, Grey Day, Phoenix Ball, and many others. Each event is a showcase of our Grey community, with many traditions.
