Catering Assistant Term Time Only

St John’s College is inviting applications for the post of Catering Assistant for term time only. 

The Catering Assistant works as part of a cohesive kitchen team of that ensures an excellent and professional standard of food service is consistently provided to students, staff, visitors and conference guests. The role requires flexibility with daytime, evening and weekend work in line with business demands.

Salary: 

£12.60 per hour

Working arrangements: 

Additional shifts may be available as operational need requires. The role requires flexibility with daytime, evening and weekend working. 

Contract type:

Continuous

Part time (20 hours per week)

Term time only (31 weeks per year)

Working arrangements:

5 days a week worked over Monday to Tuesday 2.30pm-8pm Wednesday to Thursday 5-8 Saturday 5-8

Holidays: 

Holidays are paid in additional to the hourly rate, calculated to equate to the full time equivalent of 27 days per year + statutory holidays + University customary days.

Reception Porter (Evenings and Weekends)

The role encompasses the following areas of responsibility: reception and residential services, security, maintenance, and portering. Critically, the Reception Porters are the first point of call for student issues and incidents and emergencies out of hours.

The post holder will be part of a wider team working to provide cover for reception out of office hours, normally between the hours of 16:00 and 23:00 (Monday – Friday) and 08:45 – 23:00 (weekends) but can also be invited to cover daily shifts (08:00 – 16:00).

The post-holder will need to demonstrate an enthusiasm towards ongoing business development within the College’s operational model and will work flexibly, adapting quickly to change and contributing ideas for continuous improvement, as well as proactively engaging in formal and informal learning and development activities.

£13.25 per hour, with enhanced rates for hours worked after 8pm and on a Saturday and Sunday

Permanent

Working arrangements: 

4 or 5 shifts per week, shifts include:

Monday – Friday

15:45-23:00

Saturday – Sunday

08:45-16:00 or

15:45-23:00

Benefits: 

27 days annual leave plus statutory holiday and University customary days, pro rata.
