The scholarly environment of St John’s is different from most other Durham colleges in that we have academic teaching and research staff based in the College. In addition, we have College Fellows from a broad range of academic disciplines who are well placed to mentor and support our students. We offer various ways for our undergraduate, postgraduate, staff and visiting fellows to come together to share their research. These include interdisciplinary seminars, conferences and lectures, a termly Research Forum, and online scholarly platforms which include the St John’s Academic Journal and the Theology and Ministry Journal. The College hosts research centres including the Centre for Church Planting Theology and Research and the Wesley Study Centre (for Methodist research). We have strong links to research centres both locally and internationally, and invite our members to build research networks in conjunction with the College.
