Our Senior Common Room (SCR) is as lively and engaging as our student community and exists to enable people who are not an undergraduates to participate in the life of the College. We have a diverse membership that includes academics, postgraduates, University staff, students’ partners, alumni, and members from across the local Durham and North East communities.
The SCR also supports students by contributing to the Student Opportunities Fund, and some of our members take part in our careering mentoring programme.
Specific SCR events include regular lunches, termly formal dinners, socials, and trips in the North East. In addition, members are invited to College-wide events including formal dinners, lectures and seminars, music and worship services, as well as student-led events such as John's Day, Brewfest and Bailey Ball.
SCR members are welcome to book our recently refurbished SCR, the George Pole Room, and can also enjoy discounted meals in the College dining room.
Membership is £20 annually, normally collected in October.
