About Us
Stephenson is a truly modern 21st Century College and one of the youngest in Durham. We are a community of around 1,000 students from across the UK and around the world, of which 430 reside in College. We are very much a forward thinking, inclusive and progressive College and we provide a unique, safe place where every student has the opportunity to develop their talents and interests.
Our College location on Howlands Farm offers an excellent place to enjoy green surroundings yet is close to many of the University’s main buildings and the historic city centre. We have excellent facilities including a music room, gym, hall, and outdoor multi-games area and bar.
We are recognised for being one of the most inclusive and friendliest communities in Durham. We welcome students from all parts of the world and from every different background. We encourage every student to strive to be the best they can be, and to embrace our College values of curiosity, responsibility, inclusivity, courage and kindness.
Stephenson offers outstanding opportunities for students to engage with a wide range of sports and societies which are supported by the Junior Common Room. Our Connections Programme offers space, opportunities and funding for students to challenge themselves and further their interests, whether that be through our Stephenson Ideas talk series, a leadership workshop or volunteering in the local community.
