Senior Common Room (SCR)

Our Senior Common Room (SCR) exists to contribute to the life of the College, promote the College values and enhance the student experience.

The SCR provides a forum for academic interactions, promote the College and participate in the life of the College. It helps to develop links with a range of University Institutes and Departments and plays a key role in connecting with the wider community. 

At Stephenson College we are developing a diverse membership to include academics, postgraduates, University staff, alumni, and members from across the local Durham and North East communities. A number of our SCR members act as career mentors for our students and funds raised by the SCR help projects which benefit the majority of Stephenson Students. These range from sponsoring events or buying equipment for clubs and societies to providing small grants to individual students to enable them to represent the college at national student cultural or sporting events. 

Our members are invited to College-wide events including formal dinners, talks, and other events.
