Student Community Wardens

We have four Student Community Wardens who provide student perspectives in key groups such as the Durham University & Residents’ Forum.

They also support students in being positive citizens of Durham, and strengthen relationships between students and other members of the local community.

Key elements of the Warden role include:

Providing advice and guidance to livers-out on how to be a good neighbour, including managing noise levels, disposing of waste and recycling effectively, positive citizenship, and community involvement.
Working to support the resolution of local issues relating to the environment and the community.
Working with colleagues, residents’ groups and external partners such as Police University Liaison and Durham County Council’s Neighbourhood Wardens.
Promoting and encouraging the use of the Green Move Out scheme at the end of the year, as well as other University initiatives.
Liaising with the Students’ Union and College Common Rooms.

Hi, my name is Sam, I'm an engineering student from St Cuthbert's society and I've been a Student Community Warden since 2024! I am passionate about helping students deal with the challenges, and campaigning to help improve everyone’s lives in Durham!
