Student Community Wardens

We have four Student Community Wardens who provide student perspectives in key groups such as the Durham University & Residents’ Forum.

They also support students in being positive citizens of Durham, and strengthen relationships between students and other members of the local community.

Key elements of the Warden role include:

  • Providing advice and guidance to livers-out on how to be a good neighbour, including managing noise levels, disposing of waste and recycling effectively, positive citizenship, and community involvement.
  • Working to support the resolution of local issues relating to the environment and the community.
  • Working with colleagues, residents’ groups and external partners such as Police University Liaison and Durham County Council’s Neighbourhood Wardens.
  • Promoting and encouraging the use of the Green Move Out scheme at the end of the year, as well as other University initiatives.
  • Liaising with the Students’ Union and College Common Rooms.
