Monograph by Durham historian shortlisted for RHS Gladstone Book Prize

Dr Tom Stammers' monograph on the culture of collecting in nineteenth century France has been named in the shortlist for the Royal Historical Society's Gladstone Book Prize
Dr. Stammers' book, entitled The Purchase of the Past: Collecting Culture in Post-Revolutionary Paris, c.1790–1890, was published last year, and was named on 19 May as one of the eight monographs in the running for the annual prize.
The Gladstone Prize is awarded for works on non-British/Irish history, and is one of two prizes awarded each year by the Royal Historical Society. The winner is expected to be announced in July.
