Our Undergraduate Courses
Durham University's History Department is one of the most highly regarded in the UK. We pride ourselves on being an inclusive and welcoming community with a strong commitment to equality and diversity, outreach and public engagement. We offer the following courses:
BA History
BA Ancient, Medieval & Modern History
BA English Literature and History
BA Modern European Languages and History with Year Abroad
Located within the magnificent setting of Durham’s World Heritage Site and the broader regional context of North-East England, we offer modules that range from the local to the global. We teach everything from the history of Anglo-Saxon Northumbria through to the making of modern Africa.
A significant amount of the teaching in the Department takes place in intimate, small-scale settings, and there is a strong emphasis on research-led teaching, so that students are encouraged to be active researchers throughout their academic careers with us.
We also contribute to the following programmes:
LA01 - Liberal Arts
LMV0 - Combined Honours in Social Sciences
