Durham Alumnus Sam Turton Delivers Guest Lecture on Careers in Intellectual Property Law

On 14 March 2025, Durham Law School welcomed alumnus Sam Turton, a Chartered Trade Mark Attorney at Secerna LLP, to deliver a guest lecture, arranged by Associate Professor Dr Angelia Jia Wang, titled “Careers in Intellectual Property Law” to LLB and LLM students.
Sam Turton, who earned his LLB from Durham University, shared insights from his professional journey, including his further legal education at Queen Mary University of London and Nottingham Trent University, where he obtained certificates in Trade Mark Law and Practice and Professional Trade Mark Practice, respectively.
Since qualifying as a Chartered Trade Mark Attorney in 2022, Sam has advised clients across sectors such as food and drink, retail, sports and leisure, and consumer healthcare, at Secerna LLP. His lecture provided students with practical perspectives on trade mark clearance searches, filing strategies, and enforcement, offering valuable guidance for those considering a career in intellectual property law.
