Global Masters Scholarship

In partnership with Scott Logic and Trevelyan College, The Department of Mathematical Sciences offers scholarships to students from a low or middle income countries studying for a Masters in Mathematical Sciences. The scholarship covers full fees and accommodation for one year at Trevelyan College, and includes full catering during term time. The Global Masters Scholarship in Mathematical Sciences builds on the foundation laid by the African MSc Scholarship offered by the Department in previous years.

Further particulars:

• The scholarship is for a one-year taught course leading to the award of an MSc degree in Mathematical Sciences.
• Applicants should hold a relevant honours degree of sufficient standard from a low or middle income country, as defined by the DAC List of ODA Receipients here. 
• Applicants should not have previously studied at a university outside of one of the countries above.
• Applicants will need to provide evidence of possessing a qualification in English language that meets the minimum requirement. Details can be found here.
• Applications are particularly welcome from women and black and minority ethnic candidates, who are under-represented at Durham University.
• The financial need of the applicant will be a factor in the decision-making process. 
• The awardee is required to attend all taught components of the chosen course and complete all assignments, including a dissertation. Taught MSc programmes start in October and last for one year.

1. Apply to the University program

Applications should be submitted online through the Postgraduate Application Portal. See the Postgraduate Taught webpage for more details.

Please specify in the application form that you wish to be considered for the Global Masters Scholarship.

If it is not possible for you to complete the online application form, please contact the Department at maths.postgraduate@durham.ac.uk.

Your full academic transcripts and CV should be included in your application.

2. Apply to the Global Masters Scholarship itself

You do this by filling out this form: https://forms.office.com/r/LwKNUZDrtF.

Most of this form is short answers, but you will need to write two longer responses (see below). You may want to prepare these before starting the form, and then copy and paste the text into the appropriate boxes.

You will also need to arrange for two reference letters to be sent to the Department at maths.postgraduate@durham.ac.uk by the closing date.
