Project Modules - Expand your learning

The physics department offers several modules that involve project work outside of the laboratory, allowing students to research topics in Physics that fall outside of what is covered in standard modules. Students are given the chance to produce both independent and group projects with guidance from a supervisor.

Students will gain skills such as:

  • Planning independent projects
  • Teamwork and group project management
  • Reviewing established literature
  • Independent, self-led research

Project Options

The alternative project modules range from group projects to individual research. The availability of each depends on the student's degree course, so be sure to check the student handbook for your specific course.

There are three alternative project modules:

Physics in Society

Undertake a short lecture course on the history, philosophy and ethics of Physics, followed by a group digital media project.
Students look at their computer screens

Physics into Schools

Experience teaching physics in a school environment
Schoolchildren with a science project of some description

BSc Project

Complete a literature review of a physics topic that is of interest to you
Sheets of handwritten notes laid out side by side on a table
