Department commemorates Alan Lotts' five decades in Physics

A retirement party was held for Alan Lotts on Friday 19th November to celebrate 5 decades of outstanding technical support to the astronomy group.
Alan first joined the Physics department in 1968 as an undergraduate student and then spent several years working as a research assistant, initially in John Major's bubble-chamber group. He joined technical support in 1976 and remained in this role until his retirement earlier this year. Nigel Glover presented Alan with a special gift as a memento of his dedication towards supporting others, a 1980's computer-tape reel, expertly plated and framed by the mechanical workshop. We all wish him a happy and relaxing retirement, hopefully free of technical issues!
