Andrew Maina Professor in PracticeAndrew Maina is a durable solution and forced displacement Expert focusing on governance, public policy, and social justice in that field. He has a background in law and international relations, with over a decade of experience working in the forced migration space in Kenya, Somalia, and the East, Horn, and Great Lakes Regions of Africa. His work focuses on expanding capacities and opportunities for sustainable solutions to displacement for displacement-affected communities by influencing policy and praxis through research and advocacy. Specifically, his current role in the East and Horn of Africa region focuses on developing advocacy interventions aimed at enhancing meaningful participation of displacement-affected communities in decision-making processes, removing barriers around resource bases that displacement-affected communities need to meet their essential needs sustainably and with dignity, and promoting socially inclusive interventions to forced displacement. His notable policy advocacy achievements include supporting the Governments of Kenya and Somalia in enacting the Refugees Act 2021 and the Somalia National Solutions Pathways Action Plan (2024-2029), respectively.
