Malgorzata (Gosia) Jakimów is currently working at the European Commission, Joint Research Centre, conducting research on circular economy’s role in decreasing European dependencies in the priority supply chains of critical raw materials and components, particularly those located in Asia. Her research sits at the intersection between decarbonisation, deglobalisation and geoeconomics, with special attention paid to EU-China relations. In this role, Gosia has worked closely with policymakers, delivering tailored policy advice for legislators and EU diplomats.
Gosia Jakimów holds PhD in Politics from University of Manchester, UK. She has over 10 years of academic experience, having previously worked as Associate Professor in East Asian Politics at Durham University, and Lecturer in Chinese Studies at University of Sheffield, alongside a Visiting Scholar posts at the School of Government, Peking University in 2014-15 and at University of Łódź in 2022. Apart from the question of decoupling and political economy in EU-China relations, her research interests include domestic and international politics of China, political economy of labour, and the normative aspect of EU-China relations, including China's engagement in Central Eastern Europe and the role of populism in EU-China relations.
