DUOS to perform Shostakovich 10 at Sage Gateshead

Durham University Orchestral Society (DUOS) will be returning to Sage, Gateshead on Sunday 19 June for what promises to be a breath-taking evening of great symphonic music. The power of an 80 strong symphony orchestra made up of our talented student musicians, will bring the concert hall to life.

Deaf Awareness Week 2022

The theme of this year’s Deaf Awareness Week (2 to 8 May) focuses on inclusion deafness and highlights the impact of hearing loss on everyday life. Research from within our top-rated History Department examines deafness and hardness of hearing from people’s experiences in 18th century salons and academies, to the relationship between modern technologies and hearing loss in the present day.

Durham becomes the largest All-Steinway school in the UK

With a project spanning three years, Durham became the largest All-Steinway school in the nation in April. In the enviable position of having 61 Steinways throughout the University in both its Music Department and Colleges, all students, regardless of music experience, will be able to enjoy music at its finest, with these wonderful, world-class instruments.
