University Enterprise Zones
University Enterprise Zones (UEZs) bring universities and business together to increase local economic growth and innovation.
Funding
In 2019, we received around £1.4m from Research England to develop a UEZ, joining another 22 zones across the UK. We have since been awarded a further £250,000 of ERDF funding to develop and deliver a business support offer to residents.
Businesses and Partners
A number of successful businesses already call NETPark home, including radiation detection and medical imaging company, Kromek, and Durham spin-out company, Magnitude Biosciences. The University's Centre for Advanced Instrumentation are already co-located within the Orbit building, providing easy access to the Centre's instrumentation expertise.
We'll be working with our partners Business Durham, Centre for Process Innovation (CPI), and the North East Local Enterprise Partnership, to make Orbit a success.
