Women in High-Performance Computing (WHPC) N8 CIR Chapter

Building on the strong foundation of the N8 CIR's WHPC chapter, Durham University's Advanced Research Computing (ARC) department is actively involved in promoting gender equity and inclusivity within the HPC community.

Our Commitment:

  • Championing gender balance: We actively work towards increasing women’s participation in HPC workshops, training opportunities, and leadership roles within ARC.
  • Addressing barriers: We identify, and seek to address obstacles faced by women in the field, ensuring equitable access to resources and fostering a supportive environment.
  • Showcasing achievements: ARC's WHPC initiatives aim to:
    • Highlight the contributions of women researchers through departmental seminars, guest lectures, and features in ARC publications.
    • Organise workshops and mentoring programs specifically targeted at supporting women in HPC.
    • Actively participate in national and international WHPC events to raise awareness and connect with the broader HPC community.

ARC recognises the crucial role of inclusivity for a thriving research environment. We are dedicated to:

  • Providing equal access to training and professional development: We offer workshops, training sessions, and resources.
  • Fostering a collaborative and supportive network: ARC facilitates connections between researchers through mentorship programs and networking events, promoting knowledge-sharing and mutual support.
