Baby Sleep Information Source (Basis)

The Baby Sleep Info Source website (www.BasisOnline.org.uk) is a DISC outreach project offering research evidence on infant sleep for use in policy and practice by parents and health professionals.

The Basis website presents research evidence about biologically normal infant sleep. Originally known as ISIS (Infant Sleep Info Source), BASIS was launched in 2012 by Professor Helen Ball and Dr Charlotte Russell of the Durham Infancy & Sleep Centre, with advisors from La Leche League (LLL), the National Childbirth Trust (NCT) and UNICEF UK Baby Friendly Initiative (BFI), and funded by the ESRC (Economic and Social Research Council).

Training and Webinars

Our Basis webinars are designed for health professionals and peer supporters, covering normal and safe sleep, and 'Sleep, Baby & You' is our innovative intervention tool. Eyes on the Baby has been successfully adopted by local authorities, with 3 strands of training to support SUDI prevention.
