About Us

We are inclusive in the approaches we support and are open to new directions in legal theory. We welcome scholars within and beyond the university to participate in events such as our regular lectures, paper presentations, and pre-read work-in-progress sessions.

Members of the DCLP are committed to advancing research in legal theory within the broader context of moral and political philosophy. The centre also brings together advanced scholars and practitioners to study legal theory in the form of conferences, seminars, and workshops.

The DCLP is committed to promoting the study of legal theory through both teaching and academic engagement. In addition to offering a high-calibre legal philosophy module within Durham Law School’s curriculum, the centre develops enriching extracurricular activities for students and scholars with an interest in legal theory.
