Congratulations to former IMH Director, Jane Macnaughton, who has been appointed as a St Chad's College Professorial Fellow following her role as a governor since 2018.

Jane was appointed to Durham in 2000 by the then Vice Chancellor to establish the Centre for the Arts and Humanities in Health and Medicine, which later became our Institute for Medical Humanities. She was our Director until 2021, by which time it had grown into one of the University's flagship institutes in terms of international recognition, levels of funding secured and innovative research promoted.

Jane has made an immense contribution to Durham University. She is currently the Associate Pro Vice Chancellor for Research Culture, in which she has major responsibility for the research environment at Durham University.

Professorial and Research Fellows

Professorial and Research Fellows at St Chad's represent the core of the active research work of those closely linked with the College as an intellectual community. They are academic appointments at the discretion of the Principal, with the formal ratification of the College Chair and reported to the Governors.
