A new fund that offers small, practical support for IMH Postrgraduate and Early Career Fellows to build connections that advance research related to the Medical Humanities is available.

Wherever possible, projects supported by the fund should link in with the interdisciplinary strands represented by the IMH’s six existing Research Groups. ECR/PGR Fellows are furthermore encouraged to link their events to existing activities in the IMH calendar.

The total pot for the remaining 2025/26 academic year is £500.

Funds must be used by 31st July 2026. Please approach Katrin Wehling-Giorgi (katrin.wehling-giorgi@durham.ac.uk) with your idea and an indicative budget by 24 April 2026.

There should be at least two applicants per proposal. Applicants must be IMH Fellows

Awarded funds can indicatively (but not exclusively) be used to support the following activities:

  • Enable people to meet and collaborate
  • Invite speakers
  • Paying for room hire, travel to a planning meeting
  • Basic materials
  • Catering

If you have any questions, please contact Katrin Wehling-Giorgi at the above email address.
