As part of the Discovery Research Platform for Medical Humanities, our researchers are partnering with the Edinburgh International Book Festival to develop ReaderBank: the world’s most ambitious study of reading, imagination and well-being.
Like other big databank projects (such as the BioBank), the ReaderBank will create an open-source database of the experiences, habits, and preferences of readers over several years. This will enable us to observe the long-term effects of reading and the role it plays in our everyday lives, allowing for exciting new insights into the mysteries of the reading mind.
The team behind the project are running drop-in sessions at Albertina’s (near the café) at this year’s Festival between 19–26 August from 12.00–6.00pm. No reservation necessary – just drop in!
There are also other ways to get involved, including taking part in our imagination quiz, answering a big question about reading, and telling us what questions the ReaderBank should be used to answer.
