Welcoming Anna Stenning to the Discovery Research Platform for Medical Humanities

Anna is a former Wellcome Trust research fellow and was previously based in the School of English at the University of Leeds. She is the author of the forthcoming monograph Narrating the Many Autisms: Agency, Identity and Mattering (Routledge 2023) and co-editor of the forthcoming Critical Neurodiversity Studies: Divergent Textualities, with Louise Creechan and Jenny Bergenmar (Bloomsbury 2024).  

Anna  has recently been involved in a project on the experiences of autistic students enrolled in arts and humanities degrees, which combined collective autoethnography, conceptual analysis and surveys to question the idea that wellbeing is isolable from an interactional context. Her current work explores whether neurodiversity theory is consistent with efforts to decolonise 'global mental health'. 

Anna will be working with us on the Platform until March 2024. She will support the development of the Narrative Practices Lab in its first year, primarily through a series of workshop events, as well as pursuing research in her field.
