Our IMH Senior Fellow, Jane Macnaughton has led a team of Durham staff to success in attaining a £1 million grant from Wellcome to develop research culture at Durham.
The project is entitled ‘Reimagining Governance for a Flourishing Research Culture’ and builds on Durham’s research culture programme Flourish@Durham – an initiative led by Jane which aims to investigate and reorientate Durham’s research governance.
The team behind the new project is overseen by the Vice-Chancellor Karen O’Brien and includes Andrew Moss, (Research Culture Manager), Ladan Cockshut, (Early Career Researcher), Beth Upex (Senior Technician), Ari Sadanadom (Professor in Biosciences) and Fuschia Sirois (Professor in Psychology).
They will initiate innovation in higher education governance by setting up Shadow Committees for the major research committees across the University to investigate the impact of parallel alternative approaches to decision making.
‘Reimagining Governance for a Flourishing Research Culture’ will run for two years and hopes to offer new ideas that will improve research governance across the higher education sector.
