Exhibitions

The Zurbarán Centre encourages its members to disseminate their research results through public exhibitions, and offers curatorial support on their conception, preparation and implementation where possible. The exhibitions listed below have been organised by members of the Centre and supported with external funding. Members who are planning an exhibition, even in a virtual environment, are welcome to discuss their ideas with us.

Romantic Spain

Organised by the Centro de Estudios Europa Hispánica (CEEH), the Instituto Ceán Bermúdez with the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando.

Ribera

The first UK show of the Spanish artist, Jusepe de Ribera (1591-1652), bringing together his monumental canvases and masterfully composed drawings.

Zurbarán

The crown jewel in Auckland Castle's collection, Francisco de Zurbarán's impressive series of paintings.

Fotofria

The project 'Cold War Camera' (renamed 'FOTOFRÍA' for Spanish-speaking audiences).

Rome/Mexico

The first exhibition exploring the artistic exchange between Rome and Mexico during the central years of the century of the independence.

Spanish Art in County Durham

A virtual exhibition of artwork from The Bowes Museum, Durham University, The Spanish Gallery, Auckland Castle, Raby Castle, Durham Cathedral, and Ushaw College.
