At SGIA, our extensive research activity reflects a longstanding commitment to embed regional studies expertise within core politics and international studies disciplinary strengths. Each of our research groups, centres, and institutes brings together Faculty and Postgraduate Research students who share an interest in a particular set of related research themes, and each organises regular research activities such as workshops and guest speaker series. The remits of research centres and groups sometimes cut across the boundaries of the academic groups in the School, and across disciplinary boundaries.
Research projects, seminars, and other activities are facilitated by a dynamic suite of research groups, centres, and institutes, each providing a lively interdisciplinary environment through which to explore comparative politics, institutions, and political behaviour; political theory, political ethics, the history of political thought; political economy, including international political economy; international relations and international politics, including security studies, conflict studies, international political sociology, and political geography; and global policy.
The Faculty of Social Sciences and Health has an extensive global collaboration in research and education with partners across the world, promoting Social Science solutions to the world’s greatest challenges.
