Biography
Ayuki Shimpo is a PhD student studying biological sciences under the department of biosciences, Durham university. He completed his MSci Hons in biochemistry at Queen Mary University of London in 2023. His research explores the importance of metals in the survival of commensal bacteria in the human gut microbiota. In detail, the importance of Bifidobacterium longum shaping the infant microbiome, enhancing infant nutrient uptake and protection against infections.
