Biography
Dharmendra Chatur
Dharmendra is a part-time PhD student at Durham Law School since February 2026. Dharmendra's research focuses on comparative civil procedure and dispute resolution systems across the common law world with specific focus on India, United Kingdom, SIngapore, and international commercial courts.
Dharmendra is a legal practitioner from India with about 13 years of experience in litigation and cross-border dispute resolution. He advises and represents clients in matters across jurisdictions including in India, United States, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, and Singapore. He is a partner of a law firm in India (Poovayya & Co).
Dharmendra graduated with a BA LLB (Hons) in 2013 from Christ University (India) as a the Class Valedictorian and the Basant Kumar Sarala Birla Gold Medalist as Best Outgoing Student. He holds an LLM (2023) from the University of Chicago Law School, having been awarded multiple scholarships at both institutions.
Additionally, he has multiple publications to his name in arbitration, dispute resolution, commercial and company law, and is also a visiting faculty at eminent Indian law schools.
