Biography
Felipe Zárate Guerrero
Felipe Zárate Guerrero is a Colombian PhD student at Durham University, specialising in the Philosophy of Fiction. His research focuses on two distinct narrative forms: (I) Massive Serialized Collaborative Fictions (MSCFs), which include expansive universes like Marvel/DC comics or the Star Wars franchise, created by multiple authors across various media (films, TV, comics, video games); and (II) Worldbuilt Narratives, such as J.R.R. Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings" and Robert Jordan's "Wheel of Time," characterised by complex fictional worlds with defined rules. In addition to his PhD work, Felipe has served as a Foundation Fellow at Durham's Centre for Academic Development and has written articles on pedagogy (2023) and ancient philosophy (2018). He has also engaged in interdisciplinary research bridging anthropology and philosophy (2018). Currently, he is a Teaching Assistant in the Philosophy Department for the modules "Knowledge and Reality" and "Reading Philosophy." Felipe holds a Master's in Ancient Philosophy and a Bachelor's in Philosophy with minors in Literature, Ancient Studies, and German Language and Culture, all from Universidad de los Andes, Colombia.
