Biography

James is a current MRes student in the Department of Sport and Exercise Sciences at Durham University, funded by the National Institute of Healthcare Research (NIHR) School for Primary Care Research as part of the Three NIHR Research Schools Mental Health Programme. James has a BSc in Sport and Exercise Sciences. He was recently awarded an ESRC NINE Doctoral Training Partnership Studentship to pursue a PhD in Psychology at Durham University commencing in October 2023.

Research

Throughout his research, James aims to better understand the factors that facilitate, shape and/or hinder physical activity engagement for autistic people across different stages of the life course by engaging with autistic people. Following completing his MRes in September, James will begin his doctoral studies where he will be adopting a mixed methods (both qualitative and quantitative) approach to better understand the factors that influence their engagement in secondary physical education for autistic adolescents.
