Biography
I graduated from Lancaster University with a BSc in Natural Sciences wherein I studied a combination of Biomedical Science and Mechanical Engineering. During my time as an undergraduate, I had the opportunity to undertake an internship funded by the EPSRC where I contributed to the design of various medical devices and technologies.
My research interests are centered around how mechanical forces impact cells on a molecular level and subsequently how this translates to form and functionality of tissues. The focus of my PhD project is to determine the interplay between the forces arising from the interactions of cilia with extracellular fluid and the internal mechanical state of the cells, as well as their contribution to the self-organization of the tissue.
