Biography
My PhD investigates why humans engage in reward behaviours specifically following positive emotions. It will extend the findings of my MRes, which found that momentary positive emotional episodes led to greater snack intake than negative or neutral emotional episodes, by studying the causes of successive reward behaviours following positive emotions. My PhD is supervised by Dr Niklas Ihssen, Professor Judith Covey and Dr Michael Lengieza and is funded by the ESRC through a NINE-DTP studentship.
Within the department, I work as a research assistant on two developmental projects within the Durham Babylab. The first project looks at the effects of infant temperament (such as curiosity) on word learning processes and early vocabulary development. The second project examines the effects of infant tiredness on current task performance. Pupillometry is used to analyse the eye-tracking data from both studies.
