Biography

Hello, my name is Megan Muxlow. I previously graduated with a BSc in Biological Sciences from Durham University, before returning to continue my studies as a Research Postgraduate (MSc) in the Conservation Ecology Group (CEG) of the Biosciences department. My research interests lie in the behavioural ecology of birds, and ecoacoustics. My current research masters project, supervised by Prof. Steve Willis, aims to explore the phenological determinants and interspecific associations of the avian dawn chorus in UK woodland sites. We will utilise remotely recorded audio data and audio identification algorithms to identify commonly vocalising breeding birds. From this, we will quantify the prevalence and duration of vocalisations at different sites and analyse them in relation to environmental factors.
