Biography
I am a first year PhD student in the Department of Sociology. I joined the department in 2020 after completing the Masters in Forensic Psychology in Leicester University and the Leadership in Healthcare in the RCSI. I am currently a Principal Psychologist in the Irish Prison Service and I have contributed significantly towards the management of self-harm and suicidality in prisons. My doctoral research is funded by the National Office of Suicide Prevention.
Field of Study
My doctoral research will explore people in custody's experience of self-harm and suicide in Irish Prisons. Working in the Irish Prison Service, my thesis will seek to better understand the factors that contribute towards persistence, resilience and desistance, and ultimately to help us better understand what works in managing self-harm and suicidality in prisons.
