Biography

I received my BSc in Biochemistry with Professional Placement at the University of Bath (2020-2024). In my placement year, I worked at Domainex, a CRO drug-discovery organisation. My placement year focused on developing a system for hard to solubilise membrane proteins using different synthetic polymers, such as styrene maleic acid. My experience also extends to applying biophysical methods to aid in the fragment-based drug discovery of a particular RNA target has led to my interest in RNA modification. In my final year project, we investigated how GTP cyclohydrolyase 1 feedback regulatory protein (GFRP) complexes with GTP cyclohydrolyase 1 (GCH1) to control its activity.

My PhD project involves investigating pseudouridine synthetase (PUS), which modifies uridine to pseudouridine on different RNAs’. We want to determine how different PUS enzymes modify their specific RNA species, primarily through biophysical, biochemical, and structural methods.
