Keep Making History - North East Scholarships

We are delighted to announce the introduction of the Keep Making History - North East Scholarships which are being offered due to the generous gifts of our donors.  The scholarships have been specifically designed to support applicants from the North East of England who will be undertaking an undergraduate degree at Durham University.

Programmes All undergraduate programmes
Duration The length of your undergraduate programme, for a maximum of 4 years.  Foundation years and an additional Masters can be included however the maximum funding is for 4 years.

Eligibility

Applicant must:

  • have a household income below £42,875.00 as determined by Student Finance 

  • be resident in one of the following North East postal regions; DH, DL, NE, SR or TS

How to apply

  1. Apply for a course

    Submit an academic application to Durham University via UCAS for an available programme of study.

  2. Apply for the scholarship

    Scholarship Application 

     

     

    •  Send a copy of your Student Finance England letter detailing the amount of maintenance loan you will receive to scholarship.application@durham.ac.uk - if you do  not have this document by the deadline please provide a copy as soon as you are able to.

     

    • Make your referee aware of the scholarship you have applied for and the deadline for receipt of your reference - guidance information is provided below.

  3. Reference Guidance

    A reference from one of your teachers in support of your scholarship application to be sent by email to scholarship.application@durham.ac.uk. Please ensure your referee submits the reference on letter headed paper or from a school e-mail account which contains:

     

    • their name
    • position
    • contact details
    • your full name

     

    Referee Guidance:

     

    1     Please explain how academically engaged the student is

     

    2     Please provide information on any activities the student takes part in either in or out of school

     

    3     Please provide any additional information you think would be helpful.

     

  4. Selection process

    Scholarship applications will be considered on the basis of their ability to meet the eligibility criteria, academic potential, personal statement and the reference provided.

     

    In addition to the information supplied on the scholarship application form, the University will gather contextual information to support the assessment of scholarship applications.

     

    Please note that whilst you are able to apply for as many scholarships as you are eligible for you may only be able to hold one award.
