Course Costs

There may be additional costs which are specific to your course. These can include:

  • Travel costs associated with compulsory trips such as fieldwork or placements
  • Scientific equipment
  • Specialised clothing
  • Textbooks - while the library collection provides access to all books and other references in module reading lists, we may advise you to purchase some titles
  • Laptops - where a particular specification is required

Please refer to the Course Listings to see which extra costs apply to you.

You may also need to budget for:

  • Stationary
  • Printing costs – depending on your course and assessment types this may include posters, presentation handouts or dissertations. Please see the Library pages for more information on printing costs.
  • Depending on your preference to have your own books rather than borrow from the library, you may wish to budget for textbooks and similar learning resources. Some books may be available second hand which will reduce costs.
  • If you wish to purchase a laptop prior to starting your studies, the University has published Suggested Hardware Specifications. We also offer funding to support qualifying students with loan laptops, and a library laptop loan scheme where laptops can be borrowed for use within the Library.
