Jeremy Cook OBE, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Colleges and Student Experience)

Responsibilities

The Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Colleges and Student Experience) is responsible for promoting the wider student experience at Durham, including the overall strategic direction of the Colleges and Student Experience Division (incorporating the Student Support and Wellbeing Directorate and Experience Durham).

Jeremy champions the student support and enrichment agenda at the highest levels of the University, and his goal is to ensure that the wider student experience at Durham is unsurpassed in Europe and on a par with the very best institutions worldwide.

Professional background and expertise

Jeremy joined Durham University in September 2019 from the British Army, where he most recently served as Deputy Director of the Army’s Collective Training Transformation Programme. He previously led the Army’s Strategic Training Governance Review, served as Station Commander and Commanding Officer of 9 Regiment Army Corps and was a Departmental Head in the Army Operations Headquarters, coordinating overseas operational planning and the generation of security forces for the London 2012 Olympic Games. For this work, he was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE).

Education and qualifications

Jeremy holds an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from Nottingham University and a Master’s degree in Information Systems from Cranfield University.
