Wireless Service

Eduroam Wi-Fi allows you to access a secure internet connection on your computer, smartphone or other devices, across the whole campus.
We are part of eduroam which is an international network with hundreds of member institutions. This means you can use your Durham IT account login to connect to the internet at other member universities too.

Our wireless service includes Link IT. This lets you connect IT essentials – like your laptop, printer, games console and smartwatch – in a private local network.

Don't have a Durham IT account?

If you’re visiting Durham University and don’t have a University IT account or access to eduroam, we’ve got you covered.

On Thursday 25 June, we will launch a new guest Wi-Fi service, which will be replacing TheCloud@Durham.

If you are currently using TheCloud@Durham, you should switch to eduroam, which is the University’s main Wi-Fi network for staff and students. If your device is unable to connect to eduroam, you can connect to BT_Guest@Durham instead.

For guests who have used TheCloud@Durham in the past, you will have to disconnect your device and reconnect to BT_Guest@Durham. The new service will provide a more streamlined experience, including a simple two-click connection process. You don't need to create an account to use BT_Guest@Durham - just choose the Wi-Fi on your device and click “Get Online.”

TheCloud@Durham will remain in service until Monday 29 June. However, it is recommended you switch to eduroam or BT_Guest@Durham before Monday 29 June as you may be disconnected if you are using TheCloud@Durham at that time.

Note: Staff and students should use eduroam, not BT_Guest@Durham.
