Biography
Dr Ziya Ete is an Assistant Professor in Leadership and Organizational Behavior and Co-Director of the Centre for Leadership and Followership at Durham University Business School. He received his PhD from Durham University in 2024 and his Master’s degree from Pennsylvania State University in 2015. Prior to his current appointment, Ziya served as a Research Associate and Teaching Fellow within the Durham University Business School.
Ziya’s research focuses on leadership, with particular interests in behavioural integrity, identity and identification, and ethical leadership. His current work examines how a leader’s self-concept (leader identity) drives consistency between their words and actions (behavioural integrity), and explores the subsequent impacts of this consistency on the motivational, behavioural, and well-being outcomes of both leaders and followers. Ziya’s broader research interests also include character strengths and development, authenticity and authentic leadership, and the dynamics of transgressions in leader–follower relationships. His work has been published in leading academic journals, including The Leadership Quarterly, Journal of Business Ethics, and Journal of Managerial Psychology.

Dr Ziya Ete is Assistant Professor in Leadership and Organizational Behavior and Co-Director of the Centre for Leadership and Followership at Durham University Business School. He received his PhD from Durham University, where he has been a faculty member since 2022. His research interests include leadership, behavioural integrity, leader identity, ethical leadership, and authenticity.
