The Durham DBA Scholarships recognise and reward exceptional candidates from around the world who demonstrate outstanding professional achievement, academic excellence, leadership potential, and a commitment to creating meaningful impact through research and practice.

Programme Durham DBA
Duration Scholarship (tuition fee discount) will be applied over the two taught years of the programme.  

Eligibility

Applicants should have an outstanding academic record from a recognised and reputable institution. Applicants will be assessed through their scholarship application on their professional achievement, leadership experience, career progression, research interests, and clear intent for the Durham DBA, as well as the relevant criteria for each award.
Durham DBA Director Scholarship
Applications will be assessed on:
  • Exceptional academic achievement and a strong record of scholarly or professional contribution.
  • The potential to advance knowledge and practice in areas relating to innovation, entrepreneurship, sustainability, or responsible management.
  • The capacity to generate meaningful impact through doctoral research, professional practice, public policy, or thought leadership. 
Women in Leadership Scholarship

Applications will be assessed on:

  • A commitment to advancing women in leadership through professional practice or research.
  • The potential to contribute valuable insights on leadership, gender, and organisational development.
  • Evidence of leadership achievement and career progression.
Global Opportunity Scholarship
Applications will be assessed on:
  • A strong international profile, including experience working across markets, cultures, or multinational organisations.
  • The ability to bring diverse international perspectives and experiences to the Durham DBA cohort.
  • The potential to create positive impact in their home country, region, profession, or sector.
Social Impact Scholarship
Applications will be assessed on:
  • A strong commitment to creating positive social or environmental impact.
  • The quality and potential impact of the proposed research project.
  • The ability to advance knowledge and practice in sustainability, responsible management, or social impact, and apply research outcomes to real-world challenges. 
Professor Charles Baker Scholarship
Applications will be assessed on:
  • The potential to make a significant contribution to the Durham DBA programme and wider Business School community.
  • The capacity to demonstrate leadership, influence, and impact within organisations, professions, or communities.
  • A commitment to academic excellence and research that addresses important real-world challenges.
Applicants must: 

Be fully self-funded to be eligible for this tuition fee discount. Applicants whose fees are paid by an employer, private provider or government body will not be considered for a scholarship. Failure to disclose external funding will invalidate any scholarship award. This does not include funding received through a UK government postgraduate doctoral student loan. 

How to Apply

  1. Prepare Your Applicaiton

    Before applying, please ensure you meet the Durham DBA entry requirements, have reviewed the financial commitment of the programme, and have prepared a research proposal outlining your proposed area of study.

     

    When you are ready, submit your application through the Durham University Applicant Portal.

  2. Apply for a Scholarship

    Once you receive a formal offer for the Durham DBA, you will be invited to submit a scholarship expression of interest and application.

     

    Scholarships are awarded in two rounds. To be considered, applicants must hold an offer by the relevant deadline. No awards will be made before the round closing dates.

     

    Round 1: Submit your application by 26 March 2027


    Round 2: Submit your application by 20 August 2027

     

    All scholarship application deadlines are 23:59 (GMT) on the dates stated above. 

    You may indicate which scholarship(s) you wish to be considered for. Applicants will also be considered for any other awards for which they meet the eligibility criteria.

  3. Terms and Conditions

    Applicants who are unsuccessful in Round 1 will be automatically reconsidered in Round 2

     

    Scholarships are not transferable or deferrable. They are valid only for use by the scholarship winner in the academic year for which the scholarship is awarded.

     

    Recipients who withdraw from the University or suspend their studies may have any future scholarship payments cancelled.

     

    Scholarship decisions are at the discretion of the School and all decisions are final. 

     

    There is no cash alternative if a place on the programme is not taken up.
