St Aidan's College has a comprehensive selection of bursaries and scholarships to provide financial support to our undergraduate and postgraduate students. Particular emphasis is placed on students who are from low-income households, first-generation scholars, care leavers, LGBTQ+, or from a diverse heritage background. During the academic year 2024-2025, a series of extraordinary scholarships will be granted to our Students throughout our College Community. Please access the application forms through each award link below.
Our St Aidan's Summer Internship Award will offer free accommodation and travel costs for students undertaking an internship during the Summer Vacation in the North of England. Applicants must clearly explain in no more than 300 words the internship dates, details about the employer/ organisation offering the internship, and their address. We will also require your full travel arrangements if you are commuting and how the internship will be delivered, for example, an in-person internship or hybrid work.

Our College travel awards are for grants of up to £250 to support the travel and subsistence to an enrichment and development event. This award will be given out in two rounds; please state which round of applications you are applying for in the form.

This scholarship will support any Postgraduate student with unexpected costs and expenses whilst undertaking their studies. Please note there is limited funding for this scholarship and we try to spread the expenditure of funds throughout the year.

Funding is granted for female-identified Postgraduate student/s who graduated in College with Honours in a science subject and who intend to embark the following year on a full-time course leading to a higher degree within the University. The fund was endowed by the family in memory of Beatrice and to help redress the continuing underrepresentation of women in science.
Evidence of a hons degree in a science subject from Durham University; (option to upload a letter with results) also evidence of acceptance on to a PG full-time course at Durham University. Evidence of financial support needed; evidence of what students would spend the funding on.

Five scholarships were granted to Year 1 Undergraduate/ Foundation Year UK students, one of which is to be allocated to a law student, from low-income family (priority will be given to those from the lowest household incomes below £42, 875), and/or diverse heritage and/or are first-generation scholars. The gift may be used to cover tuition, living costs and/or any other associated costs of study. Max £4,000 per student per year. For a maximum of 4 years at Durham University.

Prize awarded to the best performing St Aidan’s first-year law student and one granted to the best performing St Aidan’s final-year law students.

The Law School will liaise with the college development team with nominated students at the end of the academic year.
Up to 3 awards granted a year of £250 each. Application forms must include evidence of attending a non-selective state school. The college will cross-check applicants against the information received centrally from Student Finance England.
Grants for students who cannot participate in sport/a specific sporting event or project or wellbeing activities without this financial support. Up to 4 awards of £250 each granted a year.
Applicants are to explain in no more than 300 words how the gift would be spent. A Letter to be produced to Mrs Caswell to thank them for their support.
Grant for foreign travel development activities with a preference for engineering students or engineering projects.
Applicants are to explain in no more than 300 words how the gift would be spent. Applicants would also be strongly encouraged to produce a written report afterwards including photographs for wider college publications.

Grant to support foreign travel for the development of theological studies or interests, interfaith, and cultural dialogue.
St Aidan’s College is committed to supporting our undergraduate students enduring demonstrable financial difficulties during their undergraduate studies.
Up to 30 £1000 awards are available during the academic year 24/25 to celebrate St Aidan’s 75th anniversary.
Applicants would have to satisfy one of the following criteria:
Care leavers: This includes applicants who have ever lived with foster carers, lived in a residential children’s home, been looked after under a supervision order, or lived with friends or relatives in kinship care—either through a formal arrangement (e.g., a Special Guardianship order) or an informal arrangement without local authority support.

Applicants with a disability: - that satisfies the following definition:
A person is disabled under the Equality Act 2010 if they have a physical or mental impairment that has a 'substantial' and 'long-term' negative effect on their ability to do normal daily activities.
Applicants from households with an income of £35,000 - £60,000 per annum and can demonstrate financial need.
